Making Changes

Once you enroll in benefits, your elections stay in effect through the plan year, until the next annual enrollment, which is typically held in October. Open enrollment is your annual opportunity to make changes to your benefits unless you experience a qualifying event. Qualifying events include (but are not limited to):

  • Marriage
  • Divorce or legal separation
  • Birth or adoption of a child
  • Death
  • Termination of employment for you or your spouse, resulting in loss of coverage
  • Reduction of hours worked by you or your spouse, resulting in loss of coverage

The IRS requires that you make changes to your coverage within 31 days of your qualifying life event. You’ll need to provide proof of the event, such as a marriage certificate, divorce decree, birth certificate or loss-of-coverage letter.

If you need help, please contact your benefits team.
